3 Generations in the Watermelon Industry
Started in August of 1992, Ramon Murillo Jr. and his wife Barbara Murillo decided to open Cactus Melon Distributors. After having worked pitching watermelons at other watermelon distribution centers in Nogales, AZ as well as in the fields in Mexico, Ramon took on the venture of starting his own business. His Father, Ramon Murillo Sr. worked for over 50 years in the watermelon industry where he worked for Cactus Melon in his last 15 years. Now, Ramon, Barbara and their sons Ramon Murillo III and Christian Murillo all partake in the sales side of the business as well as other internal jobs that make the entire process to get all of our watermelons grown, shipped, packed, crossed the border and distributed to chain stores, restaurants, schools and hotels near you !
PRODUCT OF MEXICO ALL YEAR LONG
Our business relies 100% on importing Mexican grown watermelon. We farm in many states of Mexico, Sonora, Jalisco, and many more. Our goal is to ensure that every one of our customers (both the human consumer as well as our chain store customers) all receive high quality packed watermelons. We produce both seeded watermelon and seedless watermelons and over the years have accomplished being able to import fruit 12 months of the year.
